Well, I'm almost at 7 weeks, and about a week ago, I was introduced to that horrible pregnancy side effect of morning sickness. What a misnomer! What man decided that it was only in the morning?!?!? Aww well...because I was losing my ability to be functional in society, my doctor was nice enough to call in a prescription for me, and this morning was the first that I wasn't hugging the toilet in nearly a week, so I'm finally optimistic about the next 5 weeks to finish out the first trimester. Still, my body has relegated me to eating only crackers, noodles, potatoes and jello, so although optimistic, I'm hoping those 5 weeks go by pretty fast. Thanksgiving should be interesting this year. Maybe I'll just eat all the mashed potatoes and leave the turkey and pie to David.

We are both looking forward to seeing our little one at my next appointment on Dec. 4th. Though there won't be much to see, we're excited to see the fluttering of a little heartbeat. We'll keep you posted...

Great News Everyone.....WE'RE....

That's right...The Tomassons are adding a baby to the family! We're very excited, but still cautious, as it is still very early. We just couldn't keep a secret...

So, come July, we'll have a great reason for the fireworks and festivities!

Yard Work

Not a whole lot has been happening in our lives lately, but this week, we've put some work into the front yard. While David had to work late on Tuesday, I mowed and edged the front yard, and then Wednesday, we were both out there planting a few new flowering shrubs and spreading mulch. You can see we also put native rocks around the flower bed, and I think that makes it look really sharp. We're waiting to hear back from our painter when he can fit us in to stain our fence. Hopefully we can get that done pretty soon. And since this is the best time in Texas to be planting trees and shrubs, I'm also seriously considering buying several small viburnum shrubs (white flowers in the spring, evergreen) to plant along the side of the house to make a barrier between our lot and the drainage area. We'll see what David thinks.

My Poor Car...

Saturday I went to the Washtub and bought myself the "super wash" for $29.99. I thought I'd splurge for my birthday and have a gorgeous, clean car. Unfortunately, maybe 30 seconds after driving it out of the Washtub's parking lot, I was rear-ended, causing a good amount of damage to my newly cleaned car. I'm really sore and stiff from the ordeal, but it could have been a lot worse. The other driver was perfectly fine, and his car didn't sustain near the damage that mine did. So now I'm trying to get a rental car out of his insurance company, and it's like pulling teeth! Oh well...These aren't great pictures, as they were taken from my cell phone camara, but it give you an idea.

The Children

I've had several people ask me lately how Bert and Erni are getting along. Well...for the most part they don't bother each other, but when they end up in the same room together, the fur flies. Bert is actually REALLY good about it all. He tries to be gentle (as gentle as a 55lb puppy can be) when he sees Erni, but it's Erni that gets all flustered. Erni just needs to learn how to relax and let Bert get to know him without swatting and growling at him. It can be somewhat entertaining, though, watching an orange furball running around the house closely followed by a not-so-graceful black pup. To be fair to Erni, however, this is the first time in his life that he's not had our constant attention. Erni mainly lives upstairs since Bert can't get up there because of the baby gate. (David had to protect his precious pool table from a certain curious puppy's teeth.) Anyway...here's a picture of a very rare moment when the two of them are within 5 feet of each other, but aren't arguing.

"Crazy Creek"

"Look Honey, we don't need to pay for a pool...."

Bert had a lot of fun...

Here's Bert in action!
