A lot has happened this past month!

...Most notably, Xander had to be hospitalized for 4 days due to a severe intestinal infection. The poor little guy was only 6 weeks old when he woke us up with grunting while he was in his bassinet. When he started to really fuss, I took him out to feed him, and I noticed that he was burning up. After finding out he had a fever of 101.7, David and I took him straight to the ER. That was the hardest and most traumatic day of our lives. The nurses had to stick him five times before they were able to advance an IV in his scalp, he had to have a foley catheter (again very traumatic), and they did blood tests, ultrasounds, and x-rays. Our little guy sure was a trooper, though. He was found to have a salmonella infection and was treated with several antibiotics, and seems to be a happy camper now. It was so heart wrenching to see our son go through all of that, especially at such a tender age. We are eternally grateful for the doctors and nurses who took such good care of our precious baby.
Being sick is hard work, and especially with tummy issues, his feeding schedule was really thrown for a loop once we came home from the hospital. The infection, in addition to his reflux and perpetual nasal congestion, has certainly kept us up at night. David caught this moment the morning after a particularly tough night.

There have definitely been happier times this month as well...We tried to yake a family picture, but as you can see, Bert didn't want to be left out...he is, after all, our other baby (and so jealous).

The following are just miscelaneous pictures from throughout his second month of life. As you can tell in a few of them, he is really starting to smile and interact with peope more. He is so aware of his surroundings and loves to study everything around him.

What a precious angel! He is darling and I am so happy that he got over his illness. It was so wonderful to talk with you on Sunday about motherhood and life...It will be fun to see you in the wintertime!
I have made it a goal to post photos once a month on our blog for the previous month to make it easier to remember. So I'll put more photos of the kids up in a week or so before September starts!
Have a wonderful week,
Love ya!
